Catalogue of 1720 stars (1832-1834)

Karl Knorre, the First Astronomer of the Black Sea Navy carried out visual observations in the declination range 15° to -15° and from 3h56m to 5h4m in RA with the Ertel meridian circle. He compiled the catalogue as the fifth sheet of the sky map for Berlin Academy of Sciences, which provides positions at mean epoch 1800.0
Using the map, Hencke discovered Astrea, the fifth minor planet in 1845, and Hind discovered Flora, minor planet number 8 in 1847.

Catalogue of 5954 stars (1876-1899)     CDS, Strasbourg

The catalogue was obtained as the result of AGK1 observational campaign. Visual observations were carried out with the Reichenbach meridian circle.
AGK is the German abbreviation, which stands for the catalogue of astronomical society. Stars in the magnitude range 2.2 to 9.1 were observed in the declination range -2°50' to +1°10'. The standard errors in RA and Dec are ±0."42 and ±0."49 correspondingly.

Absolute declinations of 172 stars at mean epoch of 1925.0

Visual observations in the declination range +90° to -20° were carried out with the Repsold vertical circle in 1925-1927. Instrumental errors were taken into account during the reduction process.

Visual observations in the declination range +90° to -40° were carried out with the Repsold vertical circle. 210 stars were observed in both culminations. Instrumental errors were taken into account during the reduction process.

Visual observations in the declination range +90° to -30° were carried out with the Repsold vertical circle. 187 stars were observed in both culminations. Systematic instrumental errors were taken into account during the reduction process.

Visual observations in the declination range +90° to -30° were carried out with the passage telescope. Stars with declination more than +56° were observed in both culminations.

Absolute right ascensions of 571 stars included in the FK3 (1939-1941, 1945-1950)

Visual observations were carried out with the Freiberg-Kondrat'ev transit telescope. Telescope azimuth was determined using observations of several circumpolar stars, mainly the Pole Star, in both culminations. Thanks to that the catalogue system is absolute in respect of values delta(RA(Dec)). Clock corrections were determined using 44 bright equatorial stars. Right ascensions of these stars were taken from the FK3. Corrections of RA were derived using cyclic smoothing. Thanks to that the catalogue system is absolute in respect of values delta(RA(RA)). Systematic instrumental errors were taken into consideration during the reduction process.

Absolute right ascensions of 626 stars (1959-1963)

Visual observations were carried out with the Freiberg-Kondrat'ev transit telescope. The absolute azimuth of the meridian marks was determined using four methods: classic Pulkovo method, Nemiro chain method, chain method for stars in declination range +70° to +80°, Numerov method. The results obtained have shown that the absolute azimuth precision is almost the same for any of these methods. Systematic instrumental errors were taken into consideration during the reduction process.

Catalogue of 9994 stars (1956-1962)    CDS, Strasbourg

Visual observations were carried out with the Repsold meridian circle. The catalogue was compiled as a part of the AGK3R catalogue. The catalogue contains positions of 9994 stars at a mean epoch of 1958.5 The reference stars are distributed uniformly on the celestial sphere from -5° to +25°. The catalog was compiled using more than 37,000 observations. Reductions to the apparent places were computed at the Naval Observatory under the leadership of Dr F.Scott. The standard errors are ±0."315 in RA and ±0."37 in Dec. The system of the catalogue is in good ageement with the system of FK3R.

Catalogue of 2601 stars (1956-1963)    CDS, Strasbourg

Visual observations in the declination range -5° to -20° and in the magnitude range 7.1 to 9.5 were carried out with the Repsold meridian circle. The catalogue was obtained as a part of KSZ that is the Russian abbreviation, which stands for the catalogue of faint stars. Reductions were made in the FK3R system. Systematic instrumental errors were taken into account during the reduction process. The standard errors depends on declination and magnitude of the stars.

Catalogue of 117 stars (1957-1963)

Visual observations in declination range +25° to -20° were carried out with the Repsold meridian circle. The catalogue contains 117 stars around extragalactic nebulae.

RA of 299 stars observed with APM-10 (1957-1959)

Visual observations in the declination range -16° to +77° and in the magnutude range 2.0 to 7.0 were carried out with the transit telescope APM10. Azimuth correction was obtained by observing 12 circumpolar stars in both culminations. Reductions were made using 6,793 observations. Comparison of this catalogue with the FK3 has shown that the FK3 stars have substantial systematic errors of positions in declination zone more than +40°.

RA of 299 stars observed with telescope made by Askania Werke (1957-1959)

Visual observations in the declination range -16° to +70° were carried out with the transit telescope ref.102551 made by Askania Werke AG. Telescope azimuth was determined by observing a group of circumzenith stars and an equatorial star. Azimuth correction was obtained by observing 12 circumpolar stars in both culminations. Reductions were made using 13,382 observations. The catalogue is in good agreement with a system of the FK3R.

Proper motions of 12545 stars ( 1956-1965 )    CDS, Strasbourg

The proper motions of 12545 stars in the declination range +25° to -20° were derived by comparing the following catalogues:
1) AGK3R and KSZ, which were obtained from observations in the declination range +25° to -20° with the Repsold meridian circle in Nikolaev Astronomical Observatory in 1956-1965;
2) AGK2 in the declination range +25° to -2°;
3) Yale in the declination range -2° to -20°;
4) AGK1.
AGK is a German abbreviation, which stands for the Catalogue of Astronomical Society. KSZ is a Russian abbreviation, which stands for the Catalogue of Faint Stars. The standard error of annual proper motion in RA is from ±0."003 to ±0."0045 The standard error of annual proper motion in Dec is from ±0."003 to ±0."005

Catalogue of 5969 southern reference stars (1964-1966)    CDS, Strasbourg

Observations in the declination range 0° to -20° were carried out with the Repsold meridian circle. Eyepiece micrometer of the telescope and photographic microscopes for circle readings were used. The standard errors in RA and Dec are ±0."375 and ±0."48, correspondingly. The catalogue is in good agreement with a system of the FK4.

Observations in the declination range -16° to +76° were carried out with the transit telescope of the Time Service. Azimuth correction was obtained using observations of 50 stars in both culminations in the declination range +56° to +76°. 13,440 observations with photoelectric system were used to compile the catalogue. Systematic instrumental errors were taken into consideration during the reduction process.

Catalogue of 8832 zodiac stars (1969-1972)

Observations in the declination range +37° to -31° were carried out with the Repsold meridian circle. Eyepiece micrometer of the telescope and photographic microscopes for circle readings were used for observations. The standard errors in RA and Dec are ±0."3 and ±0."34, correspondingly. About 45,000 observations were used to compile the catalogue. The catalogue is in good agreement with a system of the FK4.

Right ascensions of 584 stars (1974-1976)

Visual observations in the declination range +90° to -20° were carried out with the Repsold meridian circle. 2525 observations of determined stars and 5227 observations of reference stars taken from the FK4 were obtained. The standard error in RA depends on declination and can be estimated by value of 0."255 for reference stars and 0."285 for determined stars. Systematic instrumental errors were taken into consideration during the reduction process.

Absolute right ascensions of 531 stars (1974-1977)

Observations in the declination range +10° to +80° were carried out with the transit telescope APM-10 on the Spitsbergen island during three polar nights. The telescope was equipped with a photoelectric registering device. 13,500 observations were obtained in upper culmination. Systematic instrumental errors were taken into consideration during the reduction process.

Catalogue of 16,993 stars (1996-1998)

Observations of stars around 190 northern extragalactic radio sources were carried out with the Axial Meridian Circle in semi-automatic mode using CCD cameras of telescope and autocollimator, photoelectric circle reading system, telescope setting system, control computer. The catalogue contains stars mainly in the magnitude range 12 to 15 with positions at a mean epoch of J2000. Hipparcos and Tycho catalogues were used as input ones. USNO-A2.0 catalogue was used for identification of observed stars.

Catalogue of extragalactic radio sources (2000-2003)    CDS, Strasbourg

Positions of 126 ERS with respect to UCAC2 (Cat. I/289) and 171 ERS with respect to 2MASS (Cat. II/246) are presented. The observations were performed using two telescopes equipped with CCD cameras at the TUBITAK National Observatory, Turkey (1.5m Russian-Turkish Telescope - RTT150) and at Yunnan Astronomical Observatory (YAO), China (1m telescope). The observations were completed for the declination range between -40° and 80° and with uniform distribution over right ascension.

Catalogue of 140321 stars (2008-2009)

CCD observations of selected star fields were carried out with the Axial Meridian Circle. The fields near the ecliptic plane as well as stars with large proper motions in declination range -22° to +39° were observed. The catalogue contains positions and proper motions of 140321 stars. The standard errors of positions are about 20-65 mas in right ascension and 30-70 mas in declination. The UCAC2 catalogue was used as reference one for astrometric reductions. Cross–identification between this catalogue and other modern astrometric catalogues such as TYCHO2, 2MASS, CMC14, LSPM, PPMX, USNO-A2.0 and XPM-1.0 was made to investigate system errors and to calculate the proper motions. The catalogue also contains R, J, H, K, B, V magnitudes taken from these catalogues.

Catalogue of 18169 stars - MEGA-H (J2000, epoch 1991.25)    CDS, Strasbourg

The MEGA-H catalogue is a result of a merging of star lists from the catalogue of stellar proper motions with respect to galaxies in 47 selected areas near the main Meridional section of the Galaxy (MEGA-G) (Kharchenko 1987) and from All-sky Compiled Catalogue of 2.5 Million Stars (ASCC-2.5) (Cat. I/280A). Proper motions from the catalogue MEGA-G were reduced to the Hipparcos system by means of common with the ASCC-2.5 stars. The compiled proper motions in the Hipparcos system and their standard errors were computed as the weighted means. Equatorial coordinates are reduced to the equinox J2000 and epoch 1991.25. Stars are sorted in right ascension order.

The All Sky Compiled Catalogue (ASCC-2.5, 3rd version) catalogue of 2.501,313 stars is a result of a merging high-precision catalogues: Hipparcos including Multiple System Annex [I/239], Tycho-1 [I/239], Tycho-2 [I/259], ACT-RC [I/246], TRC [I/250]) and ground-based (PPM-N [I/146], PPM-S [I/193], PPM-add [I/208], CMC11 [I/256]. Data from Tycho-2 Spectral Type Catalogue [III/231], and the 2MASS All-Sky Catalogue of Point Sources [II/246] were added.
Stars in the ASCC-2.5 are divided into 30 files ordered by declination (North and South polar caps and 28 bands of 5° width), and sorted in order of right ascension within each file.

The FON Astrographic Catalogue (FONAC 2.0) is a compiled catalogue of positions, proper motions and photometric data for 2.005,137 stars between declinations +90° and -2°. The mean epoch of positions is 1988.19. The catalogue was compiled using a new reduction of measurements for more than 1700 plates, which were obtained with the wide-angle astrograph of the Main Astronomical Observatory in Ukraine within the FON project. The acronym FON (Russian, Ukrainian) stands for Photographic Survey of the Northern Sky.
The ACT Reference Catalogue as well as the Guide Star and USNO A2.0 catalogues were applied for the reductions of positions and determination of photometric characteristics of stars. Median precision of the FONAC data are ±0.2", ±0.003"/yr and ±0.18m in positions, proper motions and magnitudes of stars, respectively.

Catalogue of absolute proper motions for about 280 million stars - XPM (J2000, epoch 2000.0)

The XPM catalogue contains ICRS positions of stars, original absolute proper motions, as well as F, J, V, N magnitudes from GSC2.3; B, R magnitudes from USNO-A2.0 and J, H, Ks magnitudes from 2MASS.
We combined data from the Two-Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS) and USNO-A2.0 catalogues in order to derive the absolute proper motions of about 280 million stars distributed all over the sky excluding a small region near the Galactic Centre, in the B magnitude range 12 to 19 mag. The proper motions were derived from the 2MASS Point Sources and USNO-A2.0 catalogue positions with a mean epoch difference of about 45 years for the Northern hemisphere and about 17 years for the Southern one. The zero-point of the absolute proper motion frame (the absolute calibration) was specified with the use of about 1.45 million galaxies from 2MASS. Most of the systematic zonal errors inherent in the USNO-A2.0 catalogue were eliminated before the calculation of proper motions. The mean formal error of absolute calibration is less than 1 mas/yr.
